The Annual University of Birmingham Sports Awards went virtual this year. With the threat of Covid-19 upon mass gatherings it was inevitable the physical event would be cancelled, the sports team at UoB had other ideas however! In collaboration with PSP we sought out a solution to get as close to the real thing as possible.
With some careful planning and preparation, pre-recorded video messages, a 3D build of the venue and safely at social distance, green screen filming, PSP pulled together a full virtual event. Streamed live on YouTube Premier it has had well over 1000 views and still counting... On the night it was watched on zoom parties by friends and family with a huge social media campaign backing it up. All in all, it was a huge success!
PSP provided the guidance, the camera crew, green screen and filming equipment to safely, at social distance, film the presenter for the evening. Our in-house creative team edited and produced the video, cutting together the camera shots, pre-recorded clips and music. Not to mention building ‘The Brammall Music Building’ in a full virtual 3D environment complete with moving lights.
‘It has been a pleasure working with you guys and we are really pleased with how it has come out. Matt and Ian have also been invaluable in their knowledge and suggestions and positive manner, it’s been a new and challenging project but couldn’t have asked for a better team to work with on it.’
Harriet Hubbard - Communications & PR Executive (Sport)
“Congratulations. You did UBSport, the University and the students’ achievements proud.
I know just how much work . . . . and teamwork went into this evening’s awards, and that reflects your collective talent and professionalism that you planned and delivered such a polished event in a relatively short time. I knew it would be impressive, because you were all so excited in the lead in. And it certainly lived up to expectation”.
Zena Wooldridge OBE – Director of Sports
“It’s been an absolute pleasure and your guidance and insight made the event. Please pass my thanks onto Matt his time and patience especially with the 11th hour adding of 3 min saved the day. We also had some great feed from very senior parties at the University wish is a great accolade”.
